This piece was inspired by "The Bad Words Experiment, " an exhibition which had a call to Artists to do their own interpretation of "bad words."
My interpretation came from my idea that words are visceral. You do not think of a word as text when it's vocalized. You feel it. I wanted this piece to embody that experience....
Bad words can be many things; trashy, rude, glamorous, bitchy, passionate, dirty, sexy etc etc...
Sometimes I think they feel and sound so good to say, it's like diamonds are pouring out of your mouth. I wanted this piece to convey all of the seediness and glamour that come with bad words. The shiny black pleather reminds me of a dirty nightclub, but the shininess of the crystals POP against it. They're like my onomonopia for a bad word.
